Yes. Medical marijuana in Mississippi became legal on February 2, 2022, under the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act. Recreational marijuana remains illegal. Book an in-person visit with a practitioner registered with the Mississippi State Department of Health. If you qualify, they submit your certification electronically. You then apply and pay through the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program (MMCP) online portal. Renewals can use telehealth, but a first certification cannot. The state health department reviews a complete application within 10 days. After approval, your card is ready within five days. Plan on up to 15 days from submission. Mismatched details, such as a different birth date on your certification, can send it back for corrections. Cards are issued electronically, so you can print yours from the portal.

The state charges a $25 non-refundable fee for a Mississippi medical marijuana card. Medicaid participants pay $15. Disabled veterans and disabled first responders can have the fee waived with proper documentation. The same fee applies when you renew each year. Your practitioner visit is a separate cost set by the clinic. Insurance and Medicaid do not pay for cannabis products.
